A TAUNTON Deane company that is expanding to meet increasing demands is being given a financial boost.

Integrated Data Needs, based in Creech St Michael, has a workforce of 39, but plans to increase numbers by 13 to fulfil demand for its products at home and overseas.

Through its trading arm, Integra, the company designs, makes and assembles power distribution units for the IT industry.

It currently relies on other suppliers for some essential components but is bringing the whole process in-house while expanding its range of products.

IDN applied for a grant from the Taunton Deane Council’s investment fund towards the cost of its expansion.

The fund provides £1,000 for new and permanent jobs created in the borough as long as the applicants can fulfil the criteria.

Managing director Cris Cadby, who founded IDN in 2000, said: “The council’s Investment Fund is an excellent way of supporting and encouraging businesses in the Borough. The application process is straightforward.

“Taunton Deane is a first class location for our business. We are keen to employ both highly skilled people – engineers for example – and apprentices who can learn those skills.”

Cllr Norman Cavill, executive councillor for economic development, said: “I was delighted to see that IDN is expanding their business and to assist them with the £13,000 cheque from the business investment grant.

“Taunton Deane is attracting a wide range of businesses and I am particularly pleased that we are host to IDN, a high tech company with a very bright future.”
