RUNNERS from across the region travelled to Brent Knoll at the weekend as the final race in the Somerset Series got underway in ideal conditions.
The annual Brent Knoll Run saw more than 135 competitors race from the BASC sports ground, along footpaths, bridleways and country roads to the summit of Brent Knoll and back again.
This year’s 5.5 mile run was won by Nathan Young of Well’s City Harriers who completed the gruelling event in an impressive 37 minutes and six minutes.
Second place went to Keiran Young, also from Wells Harriers, who finished in 38 minutes and 44 seconds.
Brian Beale from Burnham Harriers Running Club, who helps to organise the race, said: “It was a great race and everything went very well.
“The conditions were very good and everybody seemed to enjoy it.”
Brian added: “We’ve got a bit of a break nowwith the next run, The Chard Flyer, on January 1.”
