SAM Dunning is not your average ten-year-old.

The Chard School pupil has already set up two successful businesses – which have seen him win awards, and Sam who will be turning 11 soon, said he has other ideas in the pipeline.

“My original business was Sam’s Funky Fowls”, he told the News.

“I really like chickens and ducks, I was given some for my birthday when I was younger and so I started breeding them and now I have 250.

“I feed them all myself and buy their food and show them at shows across the country.”

And poultry-proud Sam has won plenty of awards already for his chickens and ducks, including prizes at the Bath & West Show.

Sam is also currently the National Juvenile Champion, a title he won at The National Poultry Show of Great Britain, where he was also awarded the Prince of Wales Silver Award of Excellence.

And more recently Sam won the Young Achiever of the Year Award at the Gold Star Awards hosted by South Somerset Council.

He said: “It is hard work to look after them all but I really enjoy it.

“I don’t take all of them to shows with me but the ones I do I have to make sure they’re clean and presentable, it is very rewarding when you win.”

Sam’s other business has seen him travel over Great Britain since setting it up a year and a half ago.

Sam’s Funky Fun specialises in outdoor equipment for parties and Sam has built up a plethora of fun items with profits.

“When my gran died she left me some money and with the money I decided to buy a bouncy castle and gladiator duel.

“I had the idea because we had bought sumo suits for one of my parties and I just added to that and thought I could hire them out for parties.”

With help from dad Paul, Sam now also has a mega slide, rodeo bull and a surf simulator.

Sam added: “It’s unbelievable how many pieces of equipment I have, I have one of only four bungee runs in England and the only double seater human gyroscope – a thing which spins you around – in England.

“I’ve been up to Wales before and all over the area, it’s great fun.”

And Sam’s ambitions don’t stop there.

He plans to have the biggest slide in the world and wants to run his own hot air balloon business one day.

“It’s a really good business and keeps me off the video games,” Sam said.

“There’s a new Frozen slide I want to buy and the money I make goes to new equipment, chicken food and buying remote control helicopters.
