A BLAGDON Hill woman was invited to London last week to meet the director of a new film about her great-uncle which is tipped for Oscars.

The County Gazette reported last week how the story of Rachel Barnes’ famous relative Alan Turing, the brilliant mathematician who cracked the Nazi’s Enigma machine during the Second World War, is being retold in The Imitation Game, which opened in cinemas on Friday.

Rachel, her husband Mark and son Tom, were invited to The Science Museum last Wednesday as VIP guests for a photoshoot with the film’s director Mortem Tyldum – and the Enigma machine itself.
