YOUNG people in Bridgwater will be able to get to know nature through a new project run by the Country Alliance Foundation.
Fishing 4 Schools uses fishing to introduce children to the natural world, the aquatic environment and the countryside and has won a grant from the national education charity, the Ernest Cook Trust.
The project, led by world renowned angler Charles Jardine was awarded a £7,000 grant, allowing it to run its courses with schools in Bristol, Bath and Bridgwater.
Mr Jardine said: “We are thrilled to receive assistance from the Ernest Cook Trust.
This contribution will help us immeasurably in our efforts to enrich the education of young people from all walks of life through the less obvious and subtle route of fishing.
“Fishing 4 Schools has made a real difference to so many young people during the eight years of this initiative.
This boost from the Ernest Cook Trust can only aid us further.”
