THESE cute little rodents are getting plenty of TLC at the RSPCA centre in West Hatch – after they were found in a plastic bag hanging from a tree.

A member of the public who had stopped to eat his sandwiches in a layby at Ilton near Ilminster spotted the bag and discovered the South American degus inside.

He put them into an empty paint tub and took them to West Hatch.

Small animal supervisor Ana Rosenburg said: “They are a really friendly pair who have obviously been well handled. We have named them Buddy and Twiggy and will be looking for a new home for them.”

If anyone has any information about the animals, they can phone 0300-1234999 and leave a message for AWO Sparkes.

West Hatch is holding its Christmas fair on November 22, which will feature stalls, games, refreshments and an appearance from Father Christmas.
