EVE and Alan Jenkins raised £266 for cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment through a sausage sizzler at their home in Wellington last week.
Other donations to the County Gazette-backed SURE, which helps buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, included £33.67 from the collection pot at Londis, in Bridgwater; and £51.24 from Charlotte Bly's keep fit day in Taunton selling crafts items.
There was also £42.67 from the collection pot at Taunton Garden Centre; and £83.50 from St Leonard's Church, Otterford, from a raffle at their annual quiz.
Collections of 5p coins amounted to £17.45 from Jean Carey and friends; £6.95 from Mrs Hawkins on behalf of Derek Hawkins; and £119.80 out of a total donation of £132.27 from the Beacon Centre.
The total donations received over the past week are £633.35, taking the amount raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette to £467,507.98.
