EXMOOR film-maker and TV celebrity Johnny Kingdom joined more than 150 people in the heart of Exmoor on Saturday for the annual Bolving World Championships.

Bolving is the name given to the call the male red deer make during the rutting season, and the competitors try to imitate this noise in the hope of being crowned champion.

This was the 11th year of the competition and, for the first time, juniors were able to enter the competition, with their own round.

Points are awarded for style, authenticity, and how successful they are at getting a real stag to respond to their roar.

The 44 competitors came from far and wide to take part and watch the competition at Draydon Rails, near Dulverton.

Exmoor National Park ranger Richard Eales arranged the competition with donations going to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

He said: "I'm really happy, another very succesful year, I would like to thank everyone who supported the event especially those business that donated some excellent draw prizes as well as those that give up their time to marshal and judge the event.

"Also the event would not be possible without the kind permission and support of landowner Mr David Wallace and farmer Mr Andrew Pugsley."

Dulverton pro Elvis Adanasenko, who has won five times, opened the evening and had a real stag roar back to him but the overall winner for the adults was Rob Follett.

Mr Follett was defending his title from last year and received the Phil Ferris trophy and his name on the bolving cup housed at The Rock Inn and a photo from Mike Sherwin photography.

The winner of the junior category was Harry Adderley who also received a stag photo from Mike Sherwin photography.
