A NEW youth shelter in Wellington provided by Taunton Deane Council is giving skateboard fans a place to meet up with friends whatever the weather.
Cllrs Vivienne Stock-Williams and Janet Reed, who represent Wellington wards, made sure the £8,500 needed for the shelter was found from developer contributions to the new housing at Cades Farm.
Consultations were held with the skate park users to come up with a design and it is now in regular use.
Cllr Stock-Williams, a former Mayor of Wellington, said: “The skate park has been really popular since it opened, but the users did see there was a need for a shelter where they could sit and chat with their friends.
“It’s a simple but effective design and we have heard that the users think it’s brilliant.”
