CHILDREN in Milverton will soon be able to get to grips with a Flying Saucer, a Sidewinder, a Cockerel Rock n Roll and a Crow’s Nest.
They are among the six new items of play equipment at the Recreation Ground in Butts Way, bought thanks to a mammoth fundraising effort by Milverton Parish Council and the Recreation Ground Committee, which has secured more than £50,000.
Contractor, Wicksteed Playscapes, is currently putting the finishing touches to the six installations, which will be formally opened by the Mayor of Taunton Deane, next Tuesday.
Project leader and vice chairman of the parish council, Jenny Hoyle, said “I am delighted that we have managed to create a wonderful facility for children of all ages, who will benefit for many years to come.”
Chairman of the recreation ground committee, Mike Sheppard, said: “The old equipment was really past its best and we are delighted that our partnership with the parish council has delivered a wonderful, 21st century playground that will really enthuse and engage village children.”
