HUNDREDS of residents turned out to enjoy Parkour workshops and BMX displays on Rhode Lane in Hamp at the weekend.
The event on Sunday outside Sunnybank marked the completion of a project, managed by The Bridgwater Way’s DIY Streets Team, designed to improve the safety and community feel of the road.
The Mayor of Bridgwater, Cllr Steve Austen, presided over the official opening with the festivities carrying on throughout the day.
There were BMX displays from Nickelodeons Matti Axel, Parkour workshops, photography workshops, a bouncy castle, the judging of the Great Hamp Bake Off and a film screening on the bicycle powered cinema.
Cllr Harvey Siggs, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “I’d like to congratulate the project team for their hard work in creating this attractive and safe area located in such a busy part of Hamp.
“The space is looking fantastic and is truly a place for the whole community to come together and enjoy.”
