A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl broke her leg after being hit by a car just before the start of Ilminster Children's Carnival on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the incident outside McColls newsagents in East Street at around 1.30pm.
Sgt Rob Jameson said the girl suffered a fracture to her leg and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital.
He said: “Local officers and members of the road traffic department attended.
“The driver was a local woman and investigations are ongoing.”
Sgt Jameson said the collision was between the girl and a blue Volkswagen Caddy Maxi.
Anyone with information about the collision should contact PC Andy Broom on 101.
