Most motorists think young drivers should stay off motorways, survey finds
MORE than half of adults believe new drivers aged under 21 should not be let loose on motorways after passing their test.
In a study for Direct Line DrivePlus, which asked people what measures they thought would improve road safety for young motorists, 53% said drivers aged 17-21 should only be allowed on motorways after racking up significant driving experience.
Some 58% said there should be a limit to the number of passengers that drivers in this age bracket can take, while 53% said new drivers should have to show a ‘P’ Probationary symbol on their car for a period after passing their test.
