Middlezoy 4 Portishead Town Res 1

MIDDLEZOY got back to winning ways at the Aerodrome on Saturday after a convincing victory.

Racing out of the blocks, the home side controlled the game for the first half, scoring twice without reply.

First, Craig Wright’s shot was palmed into the path of Carl Tucker who stabbed home for the opener. Dan Luce made the second, crossing for Wright to volley in his first of the afternoon.

A big Portishead side began the second half brightly and soon halved the deficit with the home side unable to continue their first half form.

However, Middlezoy got their third on 69 minutes, when Sam Peppin and Jamie Temlett combined to set up Wright for his fourth goal in two games. This goal settled the home side again and Middlezoy were able to enjoy the majority of possession, with Carl Tucker dictating the pace from midfield.

Dan Luce rounded the afternoon off with a fourth for Middlezoy, cutting in from the left to blast home.

Portishead had the final chance of the game but Steve Baker outfoxed the centre forward with a great one-on-one save late on.

Fourth-placed Middlezoy host third-placed St George’s Easton-in-Gordano this weekend.
