THE new super-HQ of Avon & Somerset Police has been officially opened to the public this week on Express Park in Bridgwater.

The building is the new home station for traffic, dogs and district CID departments and has a new custody suite with 36 cells which houses prisoners from Minehead, Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and Bridgwater.

Sergeant Chris Walls of Avon & Somerset Police said: “We have all now fully settled in and there have been no issues.

It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 a year.

“Supplementing this, there will be a town centre police post which will operate out of the town council office.”
