NEROCHE Primary School has just achieved the National Science Quality Mark.
It has taken the school almost 18 months of hard work to achieve, having to show it places science at the heart of the curriculum, engages the children of Neroche in exciting science and that the profile of science in the school is as high as maths and English.
Head teacher Connel Boyle said: “I thank Matt Edwards, our lead science teacher, for all of his efforts in leading this work and raising the profile of science in our school.
“The children will never forget him getting covered in Cola or his flaming hands experiments.
“It’s our school’s commitment to make sure we have an exciting curriculum for pupils that captures the imagination and interest of our children, and develops a love of learning.
“Quality Science opportunities are essential for us to achieve this.”
Mr Edwards said: “All our teachers love science, and we strive to make science as exciting for our pupils as possible. I cannot wait for the children to see what we have planned this year.”
Neroche Primary School will be presented with their award at a National Awards Ceremony hosted by the Times Educational Supplement, later in November this year.
