A COMMUNITY fete in Chard has raised an impressive £881 for the residents of St Gildas Extra Care Retirement Living Scheme.
People living at the care home invited others to view their gardens, flourishing flowers, and raise money for their amenity fund.
There was face painting, games, ice-cream and a barbecue to make it a family event.
Yarlington scheme manager of St Gildas, Claire Adams, said: “We arranged the fete at quite short notice because we wanted people to be able to enjoy the scheme garden in all its glory – it really is beautiful this year thanks to the residents who put so much work into it.”
The money will go towards plants and shrubs so the scheme can continue to have a winter and spring garden to bring cheer to the local community.
It will also allow residents to enjoy some group outings and a scheme party.
