A TALK to celebrate the life of John Hanning Speke will be held in Dowlish Wake this month.
Mr Speke, who discovered the source of the River Nile in 1862, died 150 years ago.
There is a short service in St Andrew’s Church in the village on Sunday, September 14, at 11am.
Peter Speke will give a talk on his ancestor followed by refreshments in the adjoining Speke Hall.
