A VAN driver who was over the legal alcohol limit when he was involved in a serious collision on a busy Bridgwater road has been jailed.
Thomas Calladine, aged 59, was driving a Ford Transit which was in collision with a Vauxhall Signum on the A372 Westonzoyland Road on June 25.
Appearing before Taunton Deane Magistrates, Calladine, of Highbank Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to drink-driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving without an MOT certificate, driving without insurance and without a tax disc.
He also admitted failing to surrender to custody, and was jailed for 12 weeks, and banned from driving for two years.
