KEEN photographers and video producers have less than a month until the closing date of the ‘Love your Lakes’ competition.

The competition, which closes on September 30, encourages people of all ages to make the most of the fantastic filming opportunities at lakes across the South-West, including Wimbleball on Exmoor.

This year there are three photographic categories: the beauty of water; activities; and flora and fauna. There are two video categories: nature; and action.

Photos and videos must be taken at one of the South-West Lakes Trust lakes.

The overall winning photograph and video will get £250 and there is £100 for each individual category winner. Runner-up prizes will also be awarded.

Evelyn Stacey, chief executive of the South-West Lakes Trust, said: “We know how precious the lakes are to our local communities as well as providing people with spectacular backdrops for photography.

“We’re hoping the competition will encourage everyone, young and old, to have a go at recording their favourite locations in different seasons, whether it’s wildlife, an action shot or a reflective moment.

“We’re hoping the video category will encourage some budding film directors to capture their experiences in a short film that can be shared with everyone via the web.”
