HOMES in Sedgemoor’s successful ‘GOALs’ initiative returned this year to provide free football coaching sessions to children in Woolavington.

The two-day event, hosted on Monday, August 18, and Tuesday August 19, included activities such as technique training, crossbar challenge, agility races and penalty shootouts as well as small-sided matches.

The organisation paired up with Yeovil Town FC to provide the free sessions for 32 children aged between six and 14 with all receiving a certificate and medal for all their hard work.

Four children were awarded an extra special achievement award for their contribution to the sessions and their outstanding skills.

These four children will now have the chance to win a matchday experience at Yeovil Town Football Club, courtesy of Homes in Sedgemoor.

Dawn Lang, chief executive for Homes in Sedgemoor, said: “It was great to see so many children taking part and doing so well over the course of the two days.

“The GOALs initiative is always popular and our thanks go to Yeovil Town FC for their support in bringing the programme to Woolavington.”
