A YEOVIL District Hospital unit is celebrating after receiving quality accreditation.
The Joint Advisory Group (JAG) gave the hospital the national seal of approval for the quality and safety of patient care in the endoscopy unit.
Assessments are based on factors such as staffing, patient comfort and cleaning standards.
Dr Tim Scull, Medical Director at Yeovil District Hospital said: “All endoscopy units within the UK aim to be JAG accredited, so we were delighted to receive the accreditation.
“There is a rigorous assessment process by external experts which requires us to produce an annual report to demonstrate that the unit maintains high quality, safe and efficient care year on year. We worked hard to meet the standards set and this was reflected in the excellent results we have achieved.
“Patients can sometimes feel anxious about coming to hospital for an endoscopy. This accreditation will assure patients that they are safe in our care and that we are providing a quality service with comfortable accommodation and highly trained staff.”
