VOLUNTEERS from St Margaret’s hospice hosted a successful duck race at Maunsel Lock Canal Centre.
The event was held on Saturday and raised £906 for the hospice.
It was the first race of its kind that community fundraising officer Julie Draper had organised, and she said: “I honestly didn’t think we would raise so much money. It was absolutely amazing – everyone seemed to be having fun and the volunteers were incredible. There were so many people who helped put it all together – I couldn’t have done it without them.
“We are hoping that it will become an annual event.”
St Margaret’s Hospice would like to thank volunteers Andy Reed for donating a PA system for the event, Bridgwater and Taunton Canal Association and Canoe Somerset.
