Very good questions TauntonBoy29.

The Gazette have, once again merely churned out yet another organisation's press release and have, once again unsuccessfully tried to pass this off as a 'news' item, apparently intended to 'inform' its readers.

However, to be fair; the journalist staff are not to be blamed for this industry-wide phenomenon.

Journalism, has sadly been generally replaced by just this very type of 'churnalism'. Such 'churnalism' is of course, a direct result of the mass media and publishing industry being owned and controlled by a handful of £multi-billion companies and corporations.

It must be quite soul-destroying to dedicate yourself to years of academic studies and hard work, with the aim of being a journalist; only to end up churning out press releases and filling as much space as possible in the shortest possible time, in return for little more than poverty wages.

The hum-drum, yet increasingly high-pressured process of churning out, or flipping press releases holds many similarities with the process of churning out or flipping burgers in the high streets' fast food sweat shops.

The Socialist Party campaigns for a real free press. For the resources of the press corporations to be taken out of the hands of the press barons and opened up to reflect the views and needs of the 99% of the population, not just the interests and the whims of the top 1%, through democratic public control of the means of publication.
