OLDER people will be able to relax in Lyngford Park, Taunton, thanks to the kind thoughts of Paul Hersey.

Mr Hersey, who has lived in the town for 46 years, popped into Priorswood Community Centre, to suggest benches could be put in the park.

Centre manager Lesley Thomas then contacted the district council and was awarded cash from the unparished area kitty to pay for three benches.

What's the age limit for sitting on them? Will there be fines if you're not old enough?

Surely a compromise between comfort and durability could be designed? This is just a brutalistic cop-out. OK for playing at battleships on.
"Sitting in the park, waiting for a decent landscape architect" as Georgie Fame might have sung.

Concrete bench-ends and a few lengths of 4x3 were so much easier on the ar.. eye. Why not get dfs to sponsor something less damaging to the rectal area, or do Anusol have shares in these municipal fixtures?
