IT’S time for a bit of pinky and perky action at Brean Leisure Park as pig and donkey racing becomes hot to trot over the summer.
Once again the popular animal racing will be taking place in the arena at the leisure park every Tuesday until September 2.
Staff say the pigs get very excited by the crowd, so come along on a Tuesday evening, have a flutter and cheer on your chosen pig – the louder you cheer the faster they run.
Children ride on the donkeys to complete a 100 yard race, protected with a safety helmet.
The park’s marketing and promotions officer Mike Barsby said: “They need all the luck they can get because donkeys will only do what they want to do.
“We’ve seen them trot to within a yard of the finishing line and then turn round and start going back.
“All the coaxing in the world won’t persuade them otherwise, and that’s what makes it all such good family fun, especially if you’ve placed a bet at the tote on the winning donkey.”
The evening of racing starts at 7pm and all the money raised is shared between local charities.
Entry is £2.50 with prams and pushchairs free.
