THE husband of Huntspill woman Andrea Bartlett who died earlier this year has bought life-saving equipment to remember her rather than a gravestone.

Her husband, John Bartlett, bought three portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) – life saving equipment that can shock the heart to restart it after a cardiac arrest – from St John Ambulance. He said he wanted them to be presented to community groups in the Burnham as a tribute to wife Andrea.

“Rather than a gravestone, in her memory, I wanted to give something useful to our community,” said Mr Bartlett.

“If these defibrillators can help save a life sometime, they will have done a good job.”

The defibrillators were allocated by local police officer, Pc Dave Shepherd, who helped Mr Bartlett and his family when Andrea died in March.

Family friend, Cheryl Presley, handed over each AED at St John Ambulance’s regional HQ in Bridgwater last month.

“Andrea would be happy to know that three community organisations are benefiting from these potentially life-saving machines,” said Cheryl.

The AEDs were given to Berrow villag e hall; the Avenue Lawn Tennis Club at Burnham and St John Ambulance volunteers in Highbridge and Burnham.
