HOMES in Sedgemoor’s Young Apprentice Programme is going from strength to strength.

The programme prepares young people for leaving school and accessing employment through a number of tailored, interactive sessions.

It was shortlisted for an NHF Community Impact Award in May, and HiS has been working with 20 students from Robert Blake School and six students from Bridgwater College Academy.

Nine students from Robert Blake and four from Bridgwater College Academy were shortlisted to visit Bridgwater House and take part in consultation workshops and a formal interview and presentation process.

Everyone received certificates and prizes for taking part and Homes in Sedgemoor are now working with eight sixth form students from King Alfred School in Burnham.

Dawn Lang, Chief Executive of Homes in Sedgemoor said: “We are thrilled about the level of interest from local schools.

“The Young Apprentice programme offers young people the opportunity to develop transferrable skills and build the confidence they need to leave school and find a job.”
