Young hedge layers from Dulverton Middle School impress judges
YOUNGSTERS got busy in the garden to learn about hedge laying and caring for the environment this week.
Students at Dulverton Middle School worked on a length of hedgerow in the school grounds as part of a course in practical environment and conservational skills.
The Year 8 bunch worked in groups using only handtools to cut and lay a Devon-style hedge with a double combe.
Such was the standard of the work it has been entered into the Exmoor National Park Hedge Laying competition.
Nigel Stone, chief executive of Exmoor National Park, Susan May, chairman of the Exmoor Trust and Heather Harley, from Exmoor National Park, presented the pupils with a certificate (see photo).
