New lease of life for Taunton woman thanks to Somerset Sight
8:00pm Wednesday 9th July 2014 in News
VISUALLY-impaired people are being given the chance of a new lease of life thanks to a Taunton-based charity.
Somerset Sight is trying to raise awareness of its volunteer visitor service, in which a volunteer goes out and about with somebody with visual impairments to help them with day-to-day things.
The charity is also looking for people to become volunteers who can help make a difference to someone’s life.
Pat Hunt, from Taunton, is one of those who registered for help 18 months ago and was teamed up with volunteer Mary Knight.
She said: “Mary is really patient with me and never hurries me. I feel safe and well looked after when we go out.
“I recommend anyone with a sight impairment to have a volunteer from Somerset Sight - it is so worthwhile and you can do much more with a volunteer to help you.”
If you are visually impaired and feel like a volunteer would benefit you, or if you would like to help, call 01823-325785
