THE Somerset School of Performing Arts is looking for talented youngsters between the ages of five and 20  to take part in their annual “Search for a Star Competition”.

The competition is held on Saturday from 2 -5pm. at The Gateway, Addlewell Lane, Yeovil.

The competition is aimed at young people who are interested in learning the correct techniques required for a career in the Performing Arts industry and who would like to receive professional musical theatre training at The Somerset School of Performing Arts.

Many of their pupils have gone on to work in show business including contracts in The West End, in films, in television, in broadcasting, in touring companies, in teaching and in promotional work.

On Saturday they will be inviting any interested young people to come and join our current pupils for a fun filled afternoon.

Anybody who would like to, will be invited to perform a short piece for them in their favourite discipline.

The audition piece should be approximately 1½ minutes long and pupils are very welcome to bring props, music or backing tracks on a CD.

Those children not wishing to participate in the competition will be on the judging panel with the teachers and other students.

The winner of the competition will receive up to a year's free tuition at the Somerset School of Performing Arts. This year we will also be offering discounted fees for the first term of entry to all boys who attend the afternoon.
