AN intrepid explorer who will walk the Great Wall of China to raise money for a cause close to her heart is holding a fun day this weekend.
Emilee Rolls, 22, of Ilminster, has started training ahead of a 90-mile trek of the wall, which will take six days to complete.
The former Swanmead School student, who looks after elderly people for Somerset Care, will run a fun day at Donyatt Bowling Club with pony rides, live music, bouncy castles, stalls, food and drink on Saturday from 2pm.
Emilee’s great-uncle suffered from Alzheimer’s and she hopes to raise £3,100 from the challenge, which would help The Alzheimer’s Society charity pay for 100 people to attend a Singing for the Brain session.
She said: “I wanted to do a challenge that was completely different from what other people do and I knew to raise money I had to do something that is not easy.”
Entry is £1.50 before 7pm and £3 afterwards. To sponsor Emilee or for more information call 07891-454548.
