ANOTHER year of outstanding success at West Somerset College's Post 16 Presentation evening was celebrated by students, staff and guests last week.

They were also treated to an-evening of musical performances and speeches, with catering provided by the College's Hospitality students.

Awards were given to students who had achieved both academic and vocational excellence, as well as those who had made outstanding contributions to college life.

The guest speaker was ex-student Harriet Rose-Gale, who has excelled in her career as a journalist since leaving the college.

Alice Stamp was awarded certificates for her performance in Physics, Maths and also for her outstanding performance in Key Stage 5 overall.

She will be going on to read Physics at Warwick University. The College's vocational students were also recognised for their outstanding achievements in their chosen fields.

Marguerite Bowden, assistant principal for Vocational Studies said: “The levels of achievement in vocational areas from this year's students have yet again been inspiring and the standards of the college's vocational courses has yet again risen.

“This is clearly demonstrated by the number of students going on to highly successful careers, and the quality of those receiving awards tonight.”

The prestigious Governors' Award, which recognised exceptional achievement and contribution to college life, was presented to both Abigail Farmer and Ashley Burr, whose participation in numerous college groups, together with commitment and achievement in their academic studies was praised by chair of Governors, Martin McNeill.
