A VOLUNTEER has received a prestigious award from a Highbridge company.

Keith Fishlock, treasurer of Bridgwater and District Friends of Cancer Research, was recognised for ‘volunteerism’ by his employer, Eaton Corporation.

The award recognises Keith’s many years of raising money for Cancer Research UK and helping with the Bridgwater Carnival and other societies in his community.

The Eaton Corporation acquired Cooper Industries which operated the Highbridge site in November 2012.

Barry Doggett, Eaton’s senior vice- president, public and community affairs, said: "The Stover Volunteerism Award recognises employees worldwide who help fulfil Eaton’s commitment to improving the communities in which we live and work.

Keith has been invited to a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, receive the honour.

A spokesman for the Friends said: "Eaton are making a cash contribution to the charity of Keith’s choosing and Bridgwater and District Friends of Cancer Research UK are delighted to be receiving a donation and are even more proud of their hard-working treasurer."
