A DATE has been confirmed for the annual youth parade and Carnival Queen’s fun-day for groups in Burnham and Highbridge.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 11am to 4.30pm with a youth parade (similar to the jubilee parade and summer parade last year) and then on to the seafront.

Jonathan Smith, youth parade director, said: “We are hoping for as many groups involved with youth activities to take part in this event and show the great things on offer for the younger members of our towns.”

After the youth parade there will be a sandcastle building competition and the Carnival Queen's fun day. If you would like to help with the fun day contact Emma on dancin19@hotmail.co.uk.

Carnival Queen Emma Nicholson said: “When crowned in September I was determined to do something unforgettable with my year as Carnival Queen. I also wanted to raise money for charities and Burnham Pantomime Society.

"So as part of the youth parade I will be organising a fun day for the community. There will be games, a raffle, bouncy castle, displays and lots more fun things for everyone to get involved in.

"One of the charities I am supporting is Think Amy, a local road safety charity. I chose this because I wanted to do something for children and my mum's cousin was killed in a road accident in 1995, so I feel being aware of road safety is important for everyone – including children."

The event is still open for craft stalls and groups. Get involved by contacting jonathan@boshevents.org.uk
