A WILDLIFE rescue centre in East Huntspill has been given a boost, winning the support of the Mayor of Burnham and Highbridge.

A fun day was held at Brean Leisure Park in Dickies bar to raise cash for Secret World.

The event, which featured a number of live acts from Irish dancers to local bands, was organised by Secret World volunteer rescue driver Lady Maria Dolan.

She said: “We raised £200, which was a bit sad as the weather was not on our side – however the Mayor, Cllr Martin Cox, attended and as a result of the event he has decided to support Secret World for the year, so in that way we have achieved a good result.”

Newly appointed community fundraiser for Secret World, Jane Lillis, said: “Secret World, recently featured on BBC TV’s Springwatch, is currently experiencing high levels of animal admissions with over 228 animals being taken in during the first week of June. May was also a record-breaking month.”
