THE MAYOR and Mayoress of Bridgwater paid a visit to a celebratory tea party as part of a big thank you to Home-Start Bridgwater’s volunteers.
The high tea, held at Victoria Park Community Centre, highlighted the major contribution made throughout the year and gave the group organisers an opportunity to thank volunteers for their support and commitment.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Bridgwater, Cllr Steve Austen and his wife, Stella, gave their own personal thanks to the volunteers and presented each with a memento.
The event was part of the 30th anniversary of the National Volunteers Week, an annual celebration of the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.
Jo Dean, scheme organiser, said: “The tea party went really well. We had the Mayor and Mayoress visit and meet the volunteers who have contributed so much to the community.
“It was really just an opportunity for something more social where 26 of our volunteers could meet up and have tea together.”
