CARE homes across Sedgemoor opened their doors to visitors as part of National Care Home Open Day on Friday.

The event sees homes across the UK invite the public along to create lasting links between residents and local communities.

The Rosary Nursing Home in Durleigh opted for a vintage-inspired 1950s theme for its event.

Home manager Lyn Taylor said: “Today has been absolutely wonderful and we are absolutely delighted with how it went – residents loved every minute and spent all day in the garden singing and dancing along to 1950s music.

“The staff looked fantastic in their outfits and there was a real party atmosphere. Thank you to all those who came along and supported us.”

At Sydenham House in Frederick Road residents enjoyed a local singer.

Home manager Becki Bidgood said: “Aaron Robinson came in and sang for residents, who loved the performance.

“The residents had a lovely time dancing and later enjoyed cheese and wine, which went down really well.”
