DOZENS of visitors and residents attended the opening of Kilve Jubilee Garden.
The garden at the village hall has been transformed from an unused grassy slope into a social space including walled patio with seating, surrounded by bee and insect-friendly planting.
Olaf Chedzoy gave a short speech before unveiling a wall plaque recording contributors to the project. His late wife, Doreen, was a keen supporter of the project and chose it as one of her beneficiaries.
Pat Woolley gave a speech explaining the background to the project and thanked Bridgwater College landscape design graduates Sarah Buchanan and Jan Cornell for designing the planting scheme.
Pat unveiled a slate garden plaque commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Kilve village hall chairman Alison Eyley said: “The Kilve Jubilee Garden project received a special donation from HRH the Prince of Wales, who kindly instructed the gardeners at Highgrove to supply several plants to the project.
“The project received a significant donation of £3,852 from the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as other donations from Magnox Socio-Economic Scheme, Kilve Parochial Church Council, Kilve Parish Council, Kilve News and many local residents.”
