THE treasurer of Bridgwater and District Friends of Cancer Research UK has received a prestigious award.

Keith Fishlock was recognised for ‘volunteerism’ by his employer, Eaton Corporation of Highbridge.

The award to Keith is for his many years of raising money for Cancer Research and helping with Bridgwater Carnival and other societies in his community.

The Eaton Corporation acquired Cooper Industries which operated the Highbridge site in November 2012.

Barry Doggett, Eaton’s senior vice-president, public and community affairs, said: “The Stover Volunteerism Award recognises employees worldwide who help fulfil Eaton’s commitment to improving the communities in which we live and work. This year’s recipients make invaluable contributions to their communities. We are extremely proud of their outstanding achievements in community service.”

Keith has been invited to a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, in June for the honour to be presented.

A spokesman for the Friends said: “In addition to the award, Eaton are making a cash contribution to the charity of Keith’s choosing and Bridgwater and District Friends of Cancer Research UK are delighted to be receiving a donation and are even more proud of their hard- working treasurer.”
