BUSINESSES from around Taunton gathered for a tranquil charity fundraiser and a chance to network with others while sampling some relaxing treatments.

The Mind & Body evening was set up by organiser Joanne Lawrence to help raise money for Mind, a charity that raises awareness of mental health issues.

Beauty therapists, bakers and many more nearby business entrepreneurs gathered in the packed venue to offer their goods. There was also an exciting demonstration from the Taunton Makoto Aikido group.

Joanne, who had never organised a successful event of this scale before, said: “It was an opportunity to bring local Taunton businesses together and give people the opportunity to see how they can look after themselves holistically, mind and body.”

“I feel that in these times people don't take the time to look after themselves as everyone is so busy. But there are ways to do this, to fit time schedules and wallets.

“The evening proved to be a massive success and so many people offered help and raffle prizes (including Majestic, Eden, Co-op, Wellington Road, and Debenhams) and £460 was raised for Mind, which was more than I thought possible and was so grateful for.”

The next event will take place on Thursday, December 4 between 5pm-9pm at The Master Thatcher.
