DADS in Porlock enjoyed a treat on Sunday as crowds gathered for the second Porlock RecFest.

There was plenty of live music on offer as well as food, beer and stalls to keep all members of the family entertained.

Terry Gable, event manager, said: “It was a really good day – there was a wonderful atmosphere and it was great to see so many families enjoying the music.

“We do this every other year and this was my first go at organising it.

“It was difficult, but I enjoyed it and had a good team – everything went well. “It’s a non-profit day, so all the money we raised goes back into the village to help support groups which help to make up Porlock, such as the football group and carnival group, so thanks to everyone who came.”

Jim Adlington, of the Bills Eels band, who organised the music side of the event, said: “It was a really great day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

“I play guitar in Bills Eels and we’ve played all over – it’s great to show people there’s lots of local talent.

“I really want to try to create and build up a music scene in Porlock.”

  • The next music event in the area is in July in Porlock Weir when bands will be playing over the weekend of Saturday, July 5, at WeirFest.
