FORMER BBC newsreader and TV personality Angela Rippon is to be the patron of a scheme linking schools, care homes, businesses and services to create more inclusive communities and reduce the fear and stigma of dementia has won a top award.
Reminiscence Learning's Archie Project, which has been running across Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne, topped the regional initiative category of the Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Friendly Awards.
As well as Ms Rippon agreeing to support the initiative, which increases intergenerational dementia awareness, Richard McCourt, of Dick and Dom fame, who is an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society, met members of the project at the awards in Westminster last Tuesday.
