Somerset County Council is asking residents to tell it how well they think it is supporting adults across the county.

Anyone who makes use of support services is being encouraged to complete an online survey which will seek their views on areas such as support for older people, people with Learning Disabilities and carers.

The results of the survey will be used, along with a wealth of other information and case studies, to produce the Council’s ‘Adult Social Care Local Account’. The account is required by Government to keep people informed about the standards of care in their area.

It will help the Council tell people about its successes, challenges and priorities for the future.

Cllr William Wallace, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “We want as many people as possible to tell us about their personal experiences of the care they receive and what is important to them.

“We are continuously looking to improve services and understanding the thoughts and views of those who make use of these services is an important part of that.”

Using the results of the survey and other information, individual sections of the Local Account will be made available for members of the public to view as soon as they are completed and will published at www.somerset.gov.uk in the coming months.

More information, including our on-line survey which will be open until the 31 July 2014 can be found by visiting: http://somersetnewsroom.com/2014/06/03/adult-social-care-local-account/ Compass Disability Services, HealthWatch and the Council’s social workers are providing users and carers with hard copies of the survey on request.
