BRITISH Cycling’s Sky Ride Local is back in town this Sunday (June 15) as part of The Bridgwater Way’s programme of fun, free cycling activities.

The programme boasts 30 Sunday rides around the town for all abilities, guided by trained ride leaders.

Local people can enjoy everything from easy going spins around picturesque parts of Bridgwater to more challenging rides for those seeking a little more adventure.

Sky Riders may also meet one of the ride leaders Steve Hammond, who is the new TBW Activity Coordinator.

A local campaigner, Steve has worked closely with Victoria Park Community Centre, providing enjoyable activities for older residents and for all the family.

He said: “It’s great to be working with people in Bridgwater. I can’t wait to encourage the community to take advantage of the fantastic activities on offer. This is a golden opportunity for Bridgwater residents, which is not to be missed.”

Sky Rides run each Sunday and the next event is ‘The Seven Bridge Wonder’, an ‘easygoing’ ride starting from Victoria Park at 2pm.

Bridgwater councillor Leigh Redman said: "I am really excited about these free opportunities, they are great for all the family; my wife and I have been out on some of these escorted rides and really enjoyed them.

"I would recommend that everyone takes time to have a look at the website and give them a try."

People need to register in advance to join the rides, and can do so at goskyride.com For more information, email Steve at SHammond@1610.org.uk for more information about the Sky Rides and other activities he has planned.
