A TALENTED florist proved she is a cut above the rest when she blossomed at The Chelsea Flower Show.

Lisa Fowler, 34, from Tatworth, won the regional heats in the junior and senior section respectively, for the chance to compete in the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year competition.

She joined 15 of the top florists in the UK all looking to be awarded the title the ‘Young Florist of the Year’ and ‘Florist of the Year’ at last week’s s show.

Lisa had to design a floral fantasy dress to be worn at a crystal ball and after weeks of planning and days of constructing her beautiful dresses, she made her way to the Grand Pavilion at the show where she joined a fantastic display of floral masterpieces.

For her efforts, Lisa was awarded a coveted Gold Medal and was given ‘Best in Show’ making her this year’s RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year.

She said: “It still seems unbelievable. The standard was so high so I never ever thought I would be the one to win.”

Lisa’s elegant collared dress was covered in peach-toned phalaenopsis orchids, ceropegia and skeleton leaves and featured fairytale wings.

The criteria stated two thirds of the design had to be fresh material and was judged by both the RHS and UK Floristry Guild judges.

Lisa works at Eden Florists in Taunton and owner Jane Cowling said: “I couldn't be more proud and I’m completely blown away with her achievements at the show.

“She has a huge amount of talent and put so much work into her dress. They are absolutely beautiful.”
