A SEDGEMOOR wildlife centre is encouraging gardeners to be more cautious of animals in their gardens.

Staff at Secret World, based in East Huntspill, say they are stretched to the limit, with an incredible 362 animal admissions.

The charity says 277 of these are baby birds – with many admissions due to people carelessly cutting down hedges and trees.

Founder Pauline Kidner said: “Staff and volunteers are now at full stretch caring for a steadily growing number of baby birds, badgers, fox cubs and other wild animals being brought in daily.

In April alone we received over 350 animal admissions.”
