A STUDENT from Hugh Sexey Middle School in Wedmore has been praised after taking part in the annual Mendip Young Writer Competition.
Sam, a Year Eight student, entered the Rotary Club competition for a story of up to 500 words along with 30 of the school’s Key Stage Two and Three students.
The title they were given was ‘What a difference that made to my life’.
Although Sam didn’t win acting head teacher Liz Stiddard said: “Our head of English, Gina D’Auria, was so impressed with Sam’s story that she awarded him a commendation prize.”
