A FORMER Somerset College student is to showcase her designs at an illustrious fashion show.

The work of 22-year-old Aimee Kewn will be strutted along catwalks at this year's Graduate Fashion Week, which gets under way at the Truman Brewery in London on Saturday (May 31).

Aimee, of East Lyng, near Taunton, is an ex-Heathfield School student and is now in her final year studying contour fashion at De Montfort University in Leicester.

The course specialises in lingerie, underwear, bodywear, swimwear, loungewear, nightwear, sportswear and corsetry, and Aimee's designs will showed off to visitors on Sunday.

She said: “It was amazing to be selected as only half of us got the opportunity. This is what you do the course for, to be able to show your designs at events such as this.”

Aimee's unconventional swimwear designs are based on a futuristic 60s theme.

Her work was selected for the show by British fashion designer Louise Gray, who picked 17 budding fashion stars from Aimee's university.

Aimee, who went to Richard Huish before doing a foundation course at Somerset College, added: “This is the big finale for the course.

"After university I hope to become an assistant swimwear designer and have been looking at jobs.

“Amsterdam would be a good place for me to go, perhaps at Calvin Klein or some smaller designers.”
