BMX riders brought out all the stunts at an event aimed at inspiring youngsters to get fit and healthy for summer.

Children and parents were captivated by gravity-defying tricks at the YMCA BMX track On Your Bike event on Thursday, held as part of the Bridgwater Way project.

Spectators watched aerial tricks and demos and had an opportunity to be coached by the pro riders.

Cllr Harvey Siggs, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “The Bridgwater Way is about getting people excited about cycling and I’m delighted this event attracted a really good crowd.

“Every person who uses to a bike rather than travelling by car is making a small but important contribution to easing congestion in the town, and cycling is a cheap and healthy way to get to work or school too.”
